Being Authentic

What does it mean to be authentic?

There are many definitions of authenticity and the definition I'm referring to is "being yourself"...being true to who you are and being honest with other people.

My boyfriend and I were flipping TV channels the other night and there were quite a few reality shows that consisted of women arguing and talking smack about each other.

My boyfriend turns to me and asks, "Why are women like that?  Why are they so nice to your face, but the minute you turn your back, they're talking about what a bitch you are?"

Oddly enough, I didn't have an answer for him.  It really is interesting how some women can be so un-authentic.  What women don't realize that being "fake" does not serve any purpose but to breed negative energy and resentment.  What are you accomplishing by complaining about a person to another person?

If you have a problem with another person, why not just sit down with them and share your feelings?  You don't have to be confrontational.  All you have to do is calmly explain your issues.

I think that many women are not true to themselves because of insecurities.  We want to be liked by everyone - even at the cost of being unauthentic.  It's unfortunate that some women are this way because they could be so much happier if they were just honest.
