Why I Love Dove

01Nov09

Dove isn't just a company that manufactures health and beauty products.  Dove is a company that has a mission to inspire self-esteem within young girls.  I recently saw a Dove commercial and learned about Dove's Self-Esteem Programs that they have in cities across the country and around the world.

This is one of my favorite Dove commercials...

According to a National Report on the State of Self-Esteem posted on the Campaign For Real Beauty website, seven in ten girls believe that they are not good enough or do not measure up in some way - including their looks.

I love Dove for stepping up and helping change the meaning of true beauty.  I haven't seen any other beauty or fashion companies doing anything like this... Have you?

There's a wealth of tools and information about what Dove is doing to help improve self-esteem in girls at the Campaign For Real Beauty website.  Make sure to visit: www.campaignforrealbeauty.com

"True Beauty": The Final Three

17Feb09

So we're down to the final three contestants in the reality TV show, "True Beauty":  Joel, Julia, and Billy.

Billy and Julia are the only two remaining from my list of the final three contenders.  (Refer to my previous post, TV Show Review, 'True Beauty') From the episodes I've seen up to this point, my guess is that Billy will be the last man standing.

Billy is the down-to-earth, humble guy from Idaho who is a vitamin swallowing health nut by day and a Chippendale dancer by night.  Sure, he's made a couple mistakes during the coarse of the show.  For instance, he could've shown better character during the episode with the crying fashion stylist.  But overall, I think he's the one who has proven that he has beauty both inside and out.

However, on second thought, Julia has also shown us some true inner beauty as well.

Either way, though, they're both winners ;)

On a side note, I was wondering how the producers of the show are going to pull off a second season.  Won't future contestants be aware of the real reason they're on the show?

TV Show Review: "True Beauty"

06Jan09

The show that Ashton Kutcher and Tyra Banks put together,"True Beauty", premiered last night.  There's only one word to describe it:  Funny.

I'm not one to judge people, but I still find it amazing that there are people out there who are really full of themselves!

In case you don't know, "True Beauty" is a show that puts contestants together who think they're on the show to compete to be the most beautiful person.  Little do they know that the judges are actually judging them on their inner beauty vs. their outer beauty.  They're put through a series of "tests" to see how they'll act - all the while the judges are watching them through hidden cameras.

The winner of this contest gets $100K plus a spread in People Magazine's "100 Most Beautiful People".

So, who will be the finalists for the show?  Well, based on first impressions, these are my top 3 picks:

Tyra Banks and Ashton Kutcher On a Mission To Teach "True Beauty"

23Nov08

What is true beauty?  Well, Tyra Banks and Ashton Kutcher are on a mission to teach people that true beauty isn't all about good looks.  The two celebrities have teamed up to produce a new reality TV show called True Beauty.

Contestants of True Beauty think they're being evaluated on their looks, but little do they know that the judges are looking at their personality as well.

We love it when people learn what beauty really means, so expect commentary about the show to be posted here when it debuts in January 2009.  Check out a preview of the show below...
