Yes, many journalists and their editors can be downright mean.  The latest jibber-jabber is about Jessica Simpson and the weight that she's gained.

Ashlee Simpson is quoted in this article as saying, "A week after the inauguration and with such a feeling of hope in the air for our country, I find it completely embarrassing and belittling to all women to read about a woman's weight or figure as a headline on Fox News."

It's so interesting to me that a women's weight does make headlines - as if there isn't anything else more important in the world to talk about.  How about starving children, perhaps?

It's these types of news stories about celebrities that give journalists a bad name.

Jessica Simpson is a woman with curves and the last time I checked being curvaceous was actually a good thing!

Have you discovered your authentic self yet?

From what I've observed of women, I've learned that we all have something in common:  We all want to be happy.  We want to be able to do what we want without scrutiny and judgement.  We just want to follow our bliss.

Now that I've reached my mid-30's, I'm starting to feel more comfortable in my own skin.  I've basically reached the point where I'm fully aware that I always have a choice.  I can choose how I let other people's opinions and feelings affect me.  I can either take their opinions personally or I can just brush it off and forgive them for feeling any resentment towards me.

So what does being authentic mean?

For me, being authentic means honoring the real me.  The real me is a caring and forgiving person.  The real me is on a mission to create more positive vibes in this world.  Most of all, being authentic means being free to live your own life.

Most women play different roles in their lives.  We are career women, wives, sisters, aunts, God-mothers... In these roles there are certain expectations bestowed upon us.  We're supposed to "behave" in certain ways and when we don't live up to those expectations, we disappoint people.  However, sometimes those expectations are in conflict with our own values and desires.  This causes a great deal of emotional upheaval in our lives - a.k.a. "drama"!

The show that Ashton Kutcher and Tyra Banks put together,"True Beauty", premiered last night.  There's only one word to describe it:  Funny.

I'm not one to judge people, but I still find it amazing that there are people out there who are really full of themselves!

In case you don't know, "True Beauty" is a show that puts contestants together who think they're on the show to compete to be the most beautiful person.  Little do they know that the judges are actually judging them on their inner beauty vs. their outer beauty.  They're put through a series of "tests" to see how they'll act - all the while the judges are watching them through hidden cameras.
