Is it right to criticize someone else's sense of fashion or beauty?

This is the question that came to mind as I saw this picture of Kelly Osbourne taken at Art of Elysium's 5th Annual Heaven Gala in Los Angeles. Obviously Kelly thought she looked great when she decided to put on this dress and dye her hair grey. Or perhaps she was influenced by someone who encouraged her to try out this look. There are many people who say that fashion is not important.  How can they say that when everyone wears clothes?  Believe it or not, fashion is part of our lives and will be as long as we live here on Earth...or they change the laws and decide that we can all walk around naked if we choose to.

Clothes do serve a function.  For instance, rain coats keep us dry during the rainy season and thermals for ladies keep us warm during the winter. What do your shoes say about you?

When I first take notice of someone - whether a woman or man – I usually look at their shoes. For me, the shoes speak volumes about a person. Even if I don’t exchange words with that person, I can tell whether he or she is a practical person, they’re down-to-earth and classy, or if they take pride in themselves.

I wouldn’t say that womens shoes actually reveal their true inner beauty, but shoes do enhance and express their personality. However, I will say that regardless of what brand, label, or style of shoes a woman wears, it’s how she takes care of those shoes that does say a little about who she is on the inside. Someone who is confident and has high self-esteem tends to take care of her shoes. A woman who doesn’t feel good about herself doesn’t pay attention to the details. There are many ways that we can project our inner beauty from within - like gratitude and a sense of purpose. However, I believe that every woman has one piece in the wardrobe that instantly puts a smile on the face and brightens your day.

Whenever I feel myself getting caught in a fashion or beauty rut, I turn to my tried and true maxi dress with its colorful paisley print. I don’t know what it is, but I feel very feminine and pretty in this dress. I’m energized, carefree, and creative... I loved it so much that when I first bought it, I wore it a few days in a row.
